Premium Piped Velvet Cushion Covers – 30x50cm, Tailored Edge, 11 Colours

An interior designer once said that the difference between a sofa that looks finished and one that just has cushions on it is mostly about the edge. The piped trim is what creates that edge — a narrow cord sewn around the perimeter that sharpens the outline of the cushion, keeps the corners crisp and gives the whole piece a structured, deliberate appearance.

It is the reason piped velvet covers are the default choice in hotel rooms, boutique B&Bs and serviced apartments across the UK. Guests do not always identify why the cushions look more considered than they expected — they just notice the room looks better. The piped trim is the mechanism behind that response.

These covers use Grade A velvet — consistent pile height and density throughout, clean light-reflection, none of the patchiness that appears in lower-grade fabrics under directional lighting. The piped cord is fabric-covered rather than plastic-trimmed, which means it keeps its shape after machine washing rather than stiffening or distorting. Wash on a gentle 30°C cycle, turned inside out; handle the piped trim gently; air dry. A garment steamer (not a direct iron) removes creases without damaging the pile.

Eleven colours give this range more options than the plain velvet equivalent — including baby pink and light blue, which are not available in the plain velvet 30x50cm range. These softer tones make the piped version particularly popular for bedroom accent cushions, nursery styling and guest room refreshes where a delicate, tailored finish is the brief.

Insert not included — pair with a pair with one of our 30x50cm cushion pads — made in-house in Bolton, virgin conjugate hollowfibre fill with a breathable Corovin outer for the best result.

If you are still deciding between velvet and corduroy for your sofa or property, our fabric comparison covers durability, texture and care requirements side by side.

FAQS

What is the piped edge detail on these cushion covers?

The piped edge is a narrow fabric-covered cord sewn around the perimeter of the cover. It sharpens the outline of the cushion, keeps the corners crisp and gives the cover a structured, finished appearance that plain velvet covers do not have. It is the standard finish in hotel and boutique hospitality settings.

Does this include a cushion insert?

No — cover only. We recommend pairing with a 30x50cm hollowfibre cushion pad. For a fuller, plumper finish, a pad around 33x53cm inside the cover works well.

How do I care for a piped velvet cover?

Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle, turned inside out. Air dry — do not tumble dry. Handle the piped trim gently during washing. Use a garment steamer rather than a direct iron to remove creases. Store away from direct sunlight to prevent colour fading.

What additional colours does the piped velvet range have over the plain velvet range?

The piped range includes baby pink and light blue, which are not available in the plain velvet 30x50cm range. Both plain and piped share wine red, orange, dark blue, dark green, dark grey, light grey, gold and yellow.

Are these suitable for hotel and hospitality use?

Yes. The piped finish is the standard for hospitality cushion styling. We supply hotels, B&Bs and serviced apartments directly — no trade account required, no minimum order.

Can I order a mix of colours in one order?

Yes. No minimum order applies per colour or per order. You can order one cover in one colour and ten in another in the same transaction.
